Is it worth $33.7 million dollars?

A couple of weeks ago on November 14, Christie’s sold Tulips, by none-other than Jeff Koons for $33.7 million dollars, well above it’s estimate for $25 million dollars. The NORD/LB Norddeutsche Landesbank in Hanover, Germany, has owned this sculpture since 2002. Jeff Koons has astonished the art world in the past decade by selling his massive and shiny sculptures for prices that are compared to that of Andy Warhol and Roy Liechtenstein.

Below is an interview of Jeff Koons on the Colbert Report. My favorite part of the video is around 2:30 where, Stephen Colbert starts talking about why Koons’ art work is so shiny!

I love his art work, especially to balloon like dog! I think it’s fantastic, and although it is an absolutely ridiculous amount of money, it is nice for designers and artists to be recognized for their works in the present rather than years later, x
